ChorusGrantFor Funders

For funders

Put your name on local creative projects the community has already voted for with its own money — so every matched dollar backs proven demand, not a guess.

ChorusGrant is crowdgranting for local arts: a neighborhood pledges first, a sponsor’s match doubles it, and money moves only if the goal is hit. Your match never funds a guess — it funds demand the crowd already proved with its own money.

This model already works

Crowdgranting isn’t a new idea — it’s a proven one.

Since 2014, Michigan’s Public Spaces Community Places (PSCP), run by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), the Michigan Municipal League, and Patronicity, has paired community crowdfunding with state matching grants for public-space and creative projects across the state. A dollar-for-dollar match roughly doubles what the community raises.

444

projects successfully funded

$17M+

raised from the crowd, by 77,000+ individual donors

$14.7M+

in state matching grants deployed

97%

campaign success rate (vs. under 10% for crowdfunding industry-wide)

Michigan PSCP results, as of June 2026. Not ChorusGrant figures — ChorusGrant has not yet completed a campaign.

In FY2025, every $1 Michigan invested unlocked $10.47 in private community support.

The model has since been replicated in Massachusetts (Commonwealth Places) and Indiana (CreatINg Places).

Why fund through ChorusGrant

01

Fund proof, not proposals

The crowd pledges first; your match deploys only against demonstrated demand. Crowd-validation is the diligence.

02

Zero waste on unproven projects

Match dollars can't move until the goal is hit. 0% of your committed match is ever spent on a project that failed to show it was wanted.

03

Every dollar buys two

A match doubles the raise and doubles the visible community ownership sitting under your name.

04

Compounding impact across a portfolio

Because the crowd pre-sorts for demand, your capital concentrates on the right projects — reputation and leverage compound as you back more.

05

Turnkey and self-reporting

A live in-product view of where your money is, what it activated, and who it reached. No grant-officer overhead.

How matching works

  1. 1

    The crowd pledges

Neighbors commit an amount toward the project's goal. No card is charged yet — a pledge is just a name, an email, and a number.

  2. 2

    The goal is hit

Pledges are only collected if the campaign reaches its full goal. Short of the goal, nothing moves and nothing is charged.

  3. 3

    The match doubles it

The moment the goal is hit, the sponsor's match deploys dollar-for-dollar — roughly doubling what the community raised.

Money moves only on success — you never pay for a project that failed to show it was wanted.

The portfolio thesis

Crowd-validation is a sorting mechanism, not a one-off trick.

Because the crowd pledges before a dollar of match moves, every project that reaches its goal has already cleared a bar no proposal review can replicate: real people, putting up real money, ahead of you. Back more of these and your capital naturally concentrates on the projects the community has already chosen — and the reputation of being the match that shows up compounds with every one you back.

At aggregate scale, this is exactly what Michigan’s PSCP has shown: 444 crowd-validated projects funded, $17M+ raised from the crowd across them (as of June 2026). That’s the evidence that a portfolio built this way works at scale.

Project #1, live now

Brooklyn Choir Project

ChorusGrant’s pilot campaign is live and collecting pledges today — the first project on the platform to prove the model in the field.

What we’re lining up next: a small, hand-picked pipeline of additional local creative projects, brought on one at a time as each proves it can hit its goal — not a queue we fill to look busy. If you want a say in which projects join that pipeline, that conversation starts with a match commitment on Project #1.
